1. The people I am most grateful for were the catering workers that helped me along the way. Besides Lisa, my main mentor and owner of Epic Catering, I also worked mostly with Johnny (Snake) and Mark. Snake is the second in command, and one of the chefs that preps and cooks all the food, along with Mark who also who preps and cooks.
2. *Thank you note* This file is in a .mov format because it felt redundant to upload one single video to Youtube and link it. There was a video where i got the grasp of peeling potatoes fast and efficiently but Weebly won't let me upload it because it exceeds 10 megabytes.
1. Resilience and persistence were the two that helped me the most. There was a day where I was prepping food and I was peeling potatoes, and besides the fact that there were like 100 potatoes, I also took off some of my finger nail with the potato peeler.
2. I haven't had the chance to cook in school so that's something. A lot of the projects I do utilize the same skills I used during externship, the majority being things similar to determination and the like. 1. One of the big challenges I have faced was a physical one, and that was accidentally peeling part of my nail off while I was in the groove of peeling potatoes (not pictured). Since that happened, I have to do everything slower as to not mess myself up even more, which puts a very minor dent on the events I cater.
2. There is not much to say in this aspect, in that when I work an event, I typically work with new people who all try their best to help me and teach me. This file is in a .mov format because it felt redundant to upload one single video to Youtube and link it. I made an "Interview with your mentor" type video, but there were a good number of technical issues, so I was suggested to make a short "day in the life" video clip instead.
1. My externship is with a company called "Epic Catering". The owner, Lisa Mandigo, is friends with my dad so I had the connections in order to get it. I worked with different people each and day and most of the work, or "project" if you will, was the actual events. I am excited to cook, but I am also nervous about it because this food is going to people's weddings and whatnot so I don't want to mess it up.
2. I learned how to cook and prep grilled vegetables. |
