The Road: Cormac McCarthy. The Road is a story about a father and his son traveling across the states. It takes place in an unknown location at an unknown time in a post apocalyptic wasteland. It is a great book that is super descriptive but it's confusing at times because when the characters talk, there are no quotation marks. Rating: 8.9/10.
The Motorcycle Diaries: Ernesto "Che" Guevara. It is a memoir that follows Ernesto (Che) and his friend as they travel around Latin America, starting from his birth place Argentina. I think at first it is kind of slow and confusing then it starts to pick up. Rating: 7.5/10.
Antigone: Sophocles. It is the sequel to the story "Oedipus". It is a Greek tragedy about Antigone and her sister going to Thebes to help their brothers because there is a prophecy that says they will kill each other in battle over the throne. Also, the sisters have to decide whether or not they want to bury their brother, which would be a felony but it would put his soul at rest. Rating: 8.1/10
The House on Mango Street: Sandra Cisneros. The book is a series of vignettes surrounding Mango street and its inhabitants. Esperanza is the main character and the stories follow her while she grows older and more mature on Mango street. it is about her new experiences and the people she meets. it is a good book that you don't really have to read in order. Rating: 8.7/10
The first book I want to read is "The Old Man and the Sea" and the second is "The Old Curiosity Shop". The books seem interesting so I thought they would be a fun read.x
